As we wrap up National Forensic Sciences Week, we wanted to recognize the contribution that forensic science makes in the criminal justice system. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is so appreciative of our Crime Lab Division and Crime Scene Unit and the work they do each and every day and their critical role in investigations. Just this year between both units, they have test-fired 3,560 guns, completed DNA testing in 1,175 criminal cases, CSI has responded to more than 5,500 calls for service, they’ve conducted tests on 2,153 suspected drug items and much more. We are very fortunate to have these experts on our team. I hope you’ll join us in celebrating and thanking our Crime Lab Unit and Crime Scene Unit for their tireless work!
