Great work to report out of CMPD’s Central Division. Officers on the 3rd shift made a quick arrest of a suspect who was attempting to steal a car after breaking into several other vehicles on August 30th. Also an important reminder to *Lock Your Vehicle*.
Lamar Corey Osborne (DOB 02/24/2003) is charged with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Attempted Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Around 2:30 a.m., in the 1000 block of Greenleaf Avenue, a victim caught Osborne backing his car out of his driveway.
The victim yelled at the suspect, Osborne, who jumped out of the vehicle and ran off. Officers were able to quickly establish a perimeter and get Osborne into custody. Osborne admitted to breaking into unlocked cars after trying their handles and taking valuables.
The victim’s car in this case was unlocked. Thankfully the suspect, Osborne, admitted to being unable to drive the car because it was manual. Officers recovered other stolen property from the suspect including credit cards.
Great work by our Central Division 3rd shift officers - and an important reminder to lock your car and take your keys and other valuables with you.
