Public Health will provide the monkeypox vaccine to people at high risk of exposure starting 7/13 » https://meck.co/3caJhIU
High risk includes:
• A person who has been in close physical contact with someone diagnosed with monkeypox in the past 14 days, or
• A person whose sexual partner was diagnosed with monkeypox, or
• Men who have sex with men, or transgender individuals, who have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days, where monkeypox was present or in an area where the virus is spreading.
Monkeypox spreads with direct skin-to-skin contact, contact with an infectious rash, through body fluids or through respiratory secretions. Anyone can get monkeypox, but in the current U.S. outbreak, many of the cases are in men who have sex with men.
The vaccine can prevent illness or lead to less severe symptoms if given within two weeks after someone is exposed to monkeypox. For vaccine appointments » https://meck.co/3asizLL
