County of Mecklenburg issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
With people gathering to celebrate the upcoming holidays, there is a greater risk to getting and spreading COVID-19. Testing before you gather can help slow the spread of COVID-19 including the Omicron variant. And if you test positive, quickly seeking out treatment can help reduce the risk of severe disease.
There are numerous COVID-19 testing sites available around Mecklenburg County, many with little or no wait time. To find open and accessible testing locations and view operating hours over the holidays, go to the County’s testing webpage. The testing sites featured on the map on the webpage offer walk-in/drive-up service and are prepared to serve individuals who do not have a government-issued ID, insurance, etc. as well as individuals with language barriers. Individuals can also check walk-in clinics and urgent care locations for testing availability.
Most sites will be closing early Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
For more information individuals should call the COVID-19 hotline, 980-314-9400, option 3, for updates.
