Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools issued the following announcement on Oct. 20.
As a final salute to hispanic heritage month, South Mecklenburg High School Spanish VII and ESL students hosted a student-lead event “Silent Gallery: Portrait of the Latino Student at SMHS.”
During this exhibit staff, students and families are welcomed to review the unique stories of these students and leave a note about how it impacted them.
“Some students speak about how they have been here for a few years or even less than a year. It’s hard to come here and have to adjust to this new culture. Many also speak about the pride they have for their culture’’s music, food and language,” said Alessia Osorio, a senior at South Meck.
