Bechtler Museum of Modern Art issued the following announcement on July 20.
The Bechtler is home to several significant works by Swiss sculptor, painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966). In addition to creating the bronze figurative sculptures he is best known for, Giacometti also created wearable artworks, like this gilded bronze necklace, which was made for an unknown client during the peak of Giacometti’s Surrealist period. According to the scholarship of Véronique Wiesinger, former director of the Giacometti Foundation, three versions are known to exist, but this is the only completed version.
