For those community members who missed the virtual public open houses covering the 2020 Master Plan for Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, there's still a chance to learn about the plan and participate by leaving comments online at the Meck Playbook.
The Meck Playbook is "a plan to establish community goals, policies, standards, and recommendations for Mecklenburg County's recreation facilities, greenways, nature preserves, recreational programming, and land acquisition strategies for the next 10 to 20 years," according to a news release on the county's website.
Though the virtual meetings are done, the information shared is available at the Meck Playbook site. The site includes links to a survey and more information about the nine concepts involved in the master plan, including using equity guide decisions, investing in neighborhood parks, designing for flexibility, creating a healthy balance of recreation programs, building out the trail system, reconnecting to the Catawba River, collaborating to expand, increasing awareness of the department, and building for a bold future.
