Town of Huntersville issued the following announcement on Sept. 22.
The Town of Huntersville is proud to announce the hiring of Emily Sloop as its next Town Attorney. She was chosen after several rounds of candidate interviews by the Board of Commissioners.
Sloop is a native of North Carolina, having grown up in Wilkes County, and is “excited to return home.”
“I look forward to serving the Town in this dynamic role and refocusing my career on local government,” said Sloop, who joins the town next month.
Since 2017, she has served as the Supervisory Attorney-Advisor and Chief of Case Intake and Publication at the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Prior to that, she served as County Attorney and Deputy Clerk to the Board of Commissioners of Rockingham County (NC) and as Attorney-Advisor at the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability and Review (ODAR) in Charlotte. She began her career in private practice.
“We are excited Emily is joining Huntersville’s town staff,” said Mayor John Aneralla. “The town board and I look forward to working with her to ensure Huntersville remains one of the best places to live in North Carolina.”
Sloop received her BS in business administration the from Kenan-Flagler School of Business at UNC-Chapel Hill, a Master’s degree in Accounting from NC State University, and a Juris Doctor from Campbell Law School. She has been licensed by the North Carolina State Bar since August 2010 and was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina in September 2016.
Her first day with the town is October 1st.
