County of Mecklenburg issued the following announcement on July 22.
With North Carolina's mandatory face covering order in effect, Mecklenburg County, Atrium Health and community partners have implemented the Million Masks initiative. These organizations are providing two million free masks to residents in the greater Charlotte area to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Research shows that wearing a face covering can help slow the spread of coronavirus. Therefore, we want to make sure that individuals and families throughout the community have access.
To learn how to get a mask, visit AtriumHealth.org/freemasks. This website includes information on convenient locations where masks are available, how organizations can request large amounts of masks, and other COVID-19 resources.
The County is proud to partner with the CELC and other contributing organizations including Atrium Health, Bank of America, Blue Cross NC, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Duke Energy, Honeywell, Lowe's, Marand Builders, National Gypsum, Red Ventures, Rodgers Builders and Wells Fargo.
More than 500,000 masks have already been distributed. Spread the word, pick up a free mask today and be sure to #MaskOnNC.
