Town of Matthews issued the following announcement on Apr. 21.

Town Board to review plans to improve the intersection of N. Trade Street and Matthews Station Street

The Town of Matthews Board of Commissioners approved funds to further develop pedestrian crossing improvements at N. Trade Street and Matthews Station Street. This work is based on the Town’s concept plan presented to the Board of Commissioners on November 27, 2017. This plan includes a raised intersection, curb extensions, changes to street lighting, and additional signage. Additionally, it is anticipated that the intersection may be closed completely for several weeks during construction, which could be as soon as this summer. Below is a rendering of what the intersection might look like at completion.

Engineers have completed the final design plans for the subject intersection improvements and a public information meeting will be held concurrent with the Town Board of Commissioners Meeting on Monday, April 27, 2020, at 7:00 pm. Due to the stay-at-home order, this will be a virtual meeting. Access to the meeting is available on our website at www.matthewsnc.gov. The meeting will be recorded and posted for viewing if you are not able to attend the live stream of the meeting.

The Town of Matthews appreciates your feedback in making this project a great one that will benefit your property and business. If you need additional information or would like to schedule a meeting, please contact Town Engineer Susan Habina -Woolard at 704-708-1243 or shwoolard@matthewsnc.gov.
